20 of the best hybrid hospitality brands in the UK

UPDATED: August 2025

The UK is one of Europe’s most developed hybrid hospitality markets – home to everything from design-led aparthotels and extended-stay concepts to pod-style hostels and community-first hotels.

In cities like London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Glasgow, a new generation of hospitality brands is redefining what it means to stay. These are spaces built for modern guests – people blending business and leisure, looking for somewhere they can sleep, work, connect, reset or stay a while. Some are homegrown pioneers; others are global players bringing their signature style to the UK scene.

Here are 20 of the best hybrid hospitality brands in the UK…

Locke Hotels

Locke Hotels is a design-led aparthotel brand, blending the space and flexibility of serviced apartments with the design, F&B and cultural programming of a boutique lifestyle hotel.

Each property combines fully equipped studios and suites with activated social spaces – coworking lounges, destination restaurants and bars, wellness studios and curated cultural events. Interiors are tailored to reflect the local neighbourhood, and spaces are designed to encourage both short and extended stays for business and leisure guests.

Locke is part of edyn, the hospitality group backed by Brookfield. In the UK, Locke operates nine properties across London, Cambridge, Manchester and Edinburgh, including locations such as Leman Locke, Kingsland Locke and Whitworth Locke. The pipeline includes Locke at Canary Wharf, London and Locke at Postbyen, Copenhagen, expanding the brand’s European footprint while keeping a strong UK base.

The Hoxton

The Hoxton is a series of open-house hotels where you can sleep, eat, drink, work and socialise – with vibrant lobbies, destination restaurants and community-rooted programming that attract locals as much as guests.

The brand launched in 2006 with the conversion of a former car park in Shoreditch, and has since grown into an international collection spanning Europe and North America – with outposts in cities including London, Edinburgh, Amsterdam, Barcelona, New York, and Chicago.

Each property – of which there are five in the UK – reflects the spirit of its local neighbourhood, while still carrying The Hoxton’s unmistakable design DNA. Working From_– the brand’s dedicated coworking concept – offers desks, meeting rooms and member amenities at The Hoxton Southwark.

The Hoxton is part of Ennismore, the lifestyle hospitality group that merged with Accor in 2022. In the UK, the brand operates four London properties (Shoreditch, Holborn, Southwark and Shepherd’s Bush) with Edinburgh having opened recently in June. Globally, The Hoxton continues to expand with new sites in cities including Dublin opening soon.

The Social Hub

The Social Hub is one of Europe’s most established hybrid hospitality brands, offering a seamless blend of accommodation, coworking events and community spaces across more than 20 cities – and made its UK debut in Glasgow in 2024.

Each property combines short and long-stay rooms with shared amenities including coworking lounges, meeting and event spaces, gyms, games areas and a year-round programme of social and cultural events. Designed to bring together travellers, students, locals and digital nomads, The Social Hub’s spaces encourage connection, collaboration and a sense of belonging.

Recent openings in Florence, Rome and Porto have strengthened the brand’s European footprint, with new locations set to launch in Lisbon and Turin in 2026 as part of its mission to create inclusive spaces where people from all walks of life can learn, stay, work and play.

The Other House

The Other House blurs the lines between a traditional hotel, a serviced apartment and a private rental to create a “residents’ club” – or as they put it, a house for as long as you’re in town.

Guests can stay for a night, a month or a year, with all residences designed as fully furnished club flats featuring living areas and kitchenettes. Stays include access to members’ spaces such as a private coworking lounge, a wellbeing studio and vitality pool, 24/7 gym, and a curated calendar of cultural and social events. Public-facing bars and restaurants add to the appeal for both guests and locals.

The Other House launched its flagship in South Kensington in 2022. A second property will open in Covent Garden in Q4 2025, and in October 2024 the brand secured its third London site with plans to transform the former Belgravia Police Station into a residents’ club.

The July

The July is a series of laid-back yet luxe apartment-hotels that seamlessly blend short and long-term stays with spaces to eat, drink, work, connect and disconnect.

Its London hybrid hotel, which opened in June 2025 in the heart of Victoria, is designed as a space for guests, foodies, locals and neighbouring businesses to hang out or hide out in.

Whether dipping into a city for 24 hours or relocating for a month or longer, The July offers ultimate flexibility for guests to stay as they wish. Guests can enjoy the best of both worlds with apartment-hotels that feature fully equipped kitchens, but also offer a full hotel experience – think having the space to live and the service to clean up afterwards.

The June 2025 London opening marked The July’s first UK property and first overseas location for the Amsterdam-based hospitality operator, formerly known as CityID. The brand is now expanding across Europe, with Dublin and Lisbon confirmed in the pipeline.

LEVEN

LEVEN is a design-led lifestyle hotel brand created for guests to stay, rest, work and socialise for as little or as long as they wish.

Born through a partnership between Wellbrook Hospitality and Branco Capital, the hotel – which was opened in 2021 – has freedom at its heart, with both the modern traveller and local crowd welcome to use the space to suit their needs.

Whether it’s checking emails and cracking through a to-do list with a cappuccino in the work-friendly communal space by day or kicking back and enjoying the local resident DJ with mates by night, the hotel has been consciously designed to make guests feel instantly at home and part of a community.

For those unable to visit in person, LEVEN also exists in the metaverse, with a presence in Decentraland’s Fashion District. The brand has set its sights on further expansion, with a wish list including other UK cities as well as Ireland, France and Spain.

citizenM

citizenM is one of the original disruptors in hybrid hospitality, redefining what a hotel stay could look like long before it became industry standard. Founded in 2008, the brand created a new category of ‘affordable luxury’ for modern travellers – delivering high-quality, tech-enabled stays without the unnecessary extras of traditional hotels.

Each property pairs compact, design-led rooms with vibrant communal spaces, coworking-friendly lobbies and 24/7 canteenM cafés designed for both work and play. Standardised room layouts, mood lighting controlled via tablet, self-check-in kiosks and bold, contemporary design are all hallmarks of the citizenM experience.

In the UK, citizenM operates four hotels in London and one in Glasgow. In May 2025, the brand was acquired by Marriott International for $355 million, integrating it into Marriott’s lifestyle and select-service portfolio and adding the reach of the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty programme. With further properties in development across Europe, the US and Asia-Pacific, citizenM plans to double its global footprint by 2030.

SeaSpace

SeaSpace is an experience-led lifestyle aparthotel brand offering the flexibility of self-catering with all the feel-good ease of a stylish hotel in Newquay, Cornwall.

Just moments from the beach, SeaSpace blends design-led studios and apartments with curated food & drink from locally loved brands, a neighbourhood feel, and the kind of lifestyle-led programming you’d expect from a city hybrid hotel – but with salty air and sea views.

Built for stays of any length – a day, a week or more – SeaSpace is about making coastal living your own. From early morning swims to impromptu events, pop-ups, wellness sessions, garden gatherings and sunset cocktails on the terrace, everything is designed to help guests savour the moment, whether they’re here to unwind, work remotely or spend time with friends.

The property is home to 56 studio apartments, a café, pool, gym, padel courts and more. With community connection at its heart, SeaSpace is as much for locals and weekenders as it is for long-stay guests.

Created by the team behind Watergate Bay Hotel, the brand is a fresh take on UK coastal hospitality – combining freedom, flexibility and thoughtful design with the soul of the surf lifestyle.

nHow

Dubbed as one of the ‘artiest’ lifestyle hotels in the city, nHow London – their first UK property – offers a place (in Shoreditch) where city explorers and local neighbours can come together to socialise, work, discover and stay.

Owned by the NHotel Group, the property’s fluid lobby space has been designed as a vibrant hub for remote workers to work from. Whether guests want to work from one of the brand’s comfy chairs, their dedicated coworking spaces or need to book a private lab for calls or focussed work, nHow have it all ready and waiting under one roof.

The lobby blends dedicated work spaces with a bar and restaurant so if guests fancy a bite to eat or a drink of something stronger to end the day, they’ve got it covered too.

Looking to the future, nHow is opening a site in Rome soon and opened in Lima in September 2024.

ARK

ARK is a consciously designed hybrid hospitality brand in London, created to offer members a place to relax, work and live on their own terms. Whether it’s for a night, a month, or over a year, flexibility is at the heart of the model.

Blending community and comfort, each property combines private, fully furnished studios with members-only amenities including coworking lounges, a gym and wellness studio, screening room, rooftop pavilion and a calendar of social events. Designed to feel like a private retreat in the city, ARK’s spaces are set up for modern living with high-speed Wi-Fi, communal kitchens and informal networking opportunities built in.

ARK operates Wembley ARK and ARK Canary Wharf – the latter a large-scale co-living asset acquired by Crosstree Real Estate Partners in 2022 and rebranded from The Collective’s UK flagship (and what was previously dubbed the world’s largest coliving property). Both locations offer easy access to London’s business hubs and are positioned to attract young professionals, remote workers and relocators looking for a ready-made community.

Native Places

Native Places is a UK-based aparthotel brand combining the space and flexibility of serviced apartments with the social energy of lifestyle hotels.

Its portfolio includes 12 aparthotels across London, Glasgow and Manchester designed for shorter stays, alongside nine apartment properties geared towards guests staying for weeks or months. Each property offers fully equipped studios and apartments with generous living areas, big beds, and kitchens, complemented by communal spaces for working, dining and connecting. Guests can cook in their own kitchen, enjoy in-house F&B, head out to local “Neighbourhood Heroes” partners, or join events, screenings and workshops in shared spaces.

Signature locations such as Native Manchester – in the Grade II-listed Ducie Street Warehouse – pair spacious apartments with destination-led F&B, coworking-friendly lounges, a cinema room and wellness facilities.

The brand was acquired by Numa Group in July 2024, signalling further growth across the UK and Europe with a focus on adaptive reuse of heritage buildings.

Mama Shelter

Mama Shelter is a lifestyle hospitality brand known for its playful design, affordable rates and vibrant, mixed-use social spaces. Born in Paris in 2008 and now part of the Accor portfolio (with a 35% stake acquired in 2014), the brand blends accommodation, F&B, events and coworking-friendly areas into one eclectic package.

Its properties are designed to be as much a destination for locals as for guests, with buzzing bars and restaurants, flexible seating for remote work and a calendar of live music, screenings and cultural events. Interiors mix bold colours, street art and signature design touches that reflect each city’s personality.

In the UK, Mama Shelter operates a single property in Shoreditch, London, offering a base for leisure guests, creative professionals and remote workers alike. In 2024, the brand expanded into new markets with openings in Dubai and Nice. So far this year, they have opened in Zurich in July 2025 and are set to open their Singapore site by the end of summer 2025.

Mason & Fifth

Mason & Fifth is a wellness-focused lifestyle brand shaping a new era of hybrid hospitality – creating spaces that feel genuinely like home, no matter how long you’re staying.

It all started in 2020 with the transformation of a former Edwardian factory in Bermondsey into The Italian Building – a 28-studio guesthouse layered with moments to connect, reset and recharge. The vision? To encourage guests to lean in to community and lean out into nature, even in the heart of the city.

In 2024, Mason & Fifth expanded into leafy Primrose Hill with a second property set within a heritage building and home to 61 studio apartments. A hidden garden, wellness pavilion, communal kitchen and calm, welcoming interiors make it a favourite for long-stay guests seeking peace and purpose.

The latest addition is Mason & Fifth Westbourne Park which opened its doors in June 2025. This is the brand’s most ambitious project to date – 332 design-led studios, a wellness hub, cultural programme, creative workspace and a destination restaurant all under one roof. Guests have access to The Grounding – a dedicated wellness facility featuring a pool, sauna, steam rooms, cold-water therapy showers and a fully equipped gym – designed to support body and mind. The brand has also introduced Meadow, their first creative workspace built to house around 120 local makers, thinkers and creatives.

Mason & Fifth is continuing to grow its presence across London, with a fourth property in Belsize Park already in the pipeline – bringing its purpose-driven take on hybrid hospitality to a new neighbourhood.

TRIBE Hotels – part of Ennismore’s lifestyle portfolio – is a series of contemporary hotels designed for tech-savvy, design-conscious travellers seeking affordability without compromise.

Positioned for a world where the boundaries between work and play are increasingly blurred, TRIBE’s properties feature design-led, budget-friendly rooms alongside vibrant social spaces. At TRIBE London Canary Wharf, which opened in August 2022 as the brand’s first UK property, the ground floor ‘Social Hub’ is open 24/7 with areas to work, meet, eat, relax or socialise – making it as appealing to remote workers as to leisure guests. The brand also operates TRIBE Manchester Airport, offering the same flexible, community-focused spaces for travellers on the move.

TRIBE currently operates 24 properties across 13 countries and is set to debut in Auckland, New Zealand soon. The brand is stepping up its European expansion with upcoming properties in France, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Portugal. In 2026, TRIBE will open in Ljubljana and Porto, followed by a hotel in Rostock on Germany’s Baltic coast in 2028.

The UK flagship, The Standard at London in King’s Cross, occupies the former Camden Town Hall Annex and offers 266 rooms, multiple bars and restaurants (including the award-winning Decimo), a recording studio, meeting spaces and a rooftop with panoramic city views. Their motto is, “sleep good, do good,” and they live by this by donating 100% of their profits to education and training projects both locally and internationally. It’s really amazing to see hospitality brands focusing on their global impact and committing to making a difference in the world.

Currently based in London, Antigua and Guatemala City, Good Hotel has plans to open a permanent site in their original location of Amsterdam.

CODE

CODE is a hybrid hospitality brand rethinking what budget travel can look like – blending the privacy of pod-style sleeping with the energy of social spaces, coworking lounges and curated events under one roof.

Born in Edinburgh, CODE currently operates two design-led properties in the city. The LoFT in New Town was the brand’s first opening – a cosy hostel tucked amongst the restaurants and bars of Edinburgh’s New Town. The CoURT, its flagship site, occupies a former courthouse and jail in the Old Town just off the Royal Mile, now transformed into a modern capsule-style hostel with an underground bar and event space, The Lost Close.

Across both sites, CODE’s signature sleep pods offer smart, compact comfort – complete with ambient lighting, charging points, privacy blinds and high-speed Wi‑Fi. Guests also have access to communal kitchens, coworking-style lounges and seamless keyless entry, creating a stay experience that’s just as practical for digital nomads and long-stay travellers as it is for those passing through for a few nights.

As the first brand to bring Japanese style capsule pods to the UK, CODE is now bringing its approach to London – with a new site confirmed for Elephant and Castle. Set to open in the next few years, the space will build on what CODE does best: cleverly designed, community-driven stays that bridge the gap between hostel sociability and hotel comfort.

Village Hotels

Village Hotels is a homegrown UK brand combining the scale of a traditional hotel chain with the flexibility, energy and lifestyle perks of a hybrid hospitality model.

Each property is designed to be more than just a place to sleep – blending rooms with full-service gyms, coworking spaces, restaurants, Starbucks cafés and lively pub-style bars. Whether you’re staying for a business trip or a longer stint, the setup suits guests who want to work, train, eat, meet and relax all in one place.

With over 30 properties across the UK – from city hubs to suburban spots – Village Hotels has carved out a niche by offering the amenities of a high-end health club and the convenience of a tech-enabled hotel under one roof. Strong local membership programmes and buzzing social calendars also make Village a go-to for locals, not just travellers.

In 2024, the brand was acquired by Blackstone, marking a new chapter focused on expansion, digital innovation and continued evolution in the hybrid hospitality space.
